Retreat to the wildernessHam_House_from_The_Wilderness.JPG
Away from the pomp and circumstance of state
High society seated in pecking order
Alone in solitary confinement.

Sample the wild flowers of random
Away from the planted gardens of order
Crinoline skirts bouncing and bumping
Alone in meditation.

Finger the earth and granules of sand
Away from the pebbled paths of construction
Brandishing political swords
Alone and back to basics.

Find the Creator behind the hedge
Away from the chapel of routine liturgy
Opening the book to the office of the day
Alone in closer communion.

On visiting the wilderness in the gardens of Ham House, London.
