Discovery

These skyscrapers gaze from dizzy heights,
Looking down on a lawn and mounds
Undulating among paths hidden from sight;
Horse and cart leaving their mark
With their modern replacements belching other fumes
Showering skaters plying their way across the ice
As we strive with Strava and three wise men
Who wanted to follow a star hidden by the skyscrapers,
So they content themselves with a daytime hike,
But have the surprise of their life:
Finding who they were looking for right there,
Surrounded not by angels or shepherds, but by skyscrapers
Also wanting to offer frankincense, myrrh and,
Of course - gold.
